The Palyat-Izmir journey started with the workshop we held in May 2013. Then we turned into a family bound by the bond of friendship and love. We have pioneered both in the creation of legislation, training models and service models.
We have achieved almost all of the goals we set in that workshop. We recently celebrated the more than tenth anniversary of the first palliative care established in Turkey, with a focus on geriatrics, at Tepecik Hospital.

Symptom Management in Palliative Patients- Book
January 01, 2020
Palliative Care patients needed a symptom and treatment book for the most common problems. A book has been prepared for this need. I think this book will be a resource book for health professionals on the subject. Hoping it's useful.
Guide book for relatives who provide Home Care Services
January 01, 2020
In the light of the workshops, we saw that there was a need for a book that home caregivers could benefit from. I think this book will be helpful. There are many academics who have devoted themselves to the subject in my writing.
The whole adventure started with this workshop in 2013. A group of patients, that is, patients with serious medical problems who could not be treated medically, either remained in the middle or were unnecessarily hospitalized in intensive care units. Families could not visit patients, could not see their patients, and normal care costs cost the state 8 times more. We have achieved almost all of the goals we set in this workshop. But there is much more to do.
The support house issue is still up-to-date. The needs of these patients change when the irreversible path is entered. Religious, psychological, legal and social sense. What you will do medically is to relieve the pain and ensure that they live in a peaceful environment with their family and loved ones. Hospitals are not suitable environments for this. The house is sometimes not enough. We discussed this issue in this workshop. However, when we come to 2018, there is still a need to work on an initiative and legal regulation. Continues.
In May 2015, we discussed the advance will. The advance will was put forward by an activist lawyer in America in the 70s and became law after a long struggle. We have made a mark in history in this process, where we understand that even discussion is difficult in Turkey. We brought together the parties, namely physicians, relatives of patients, clergy and lawyers in an academic environment.
